Supporting Children with SEND

Children may have special educational needs, emotional needs or behavioural needs at any time throughout their school journey.

Needs may vary but generally fall into the following areas:

Communicating and Interacting
Cognition and Learning
Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
Sensory and/or Physical Needs

We endeavour to identify children as early as possible so that we can provide the support they need. We follow Local Authority guidelines and the SEND Code of Practice regarding the assessment and identification of children.

Working with Specialist Services

We work closely with a range of specialists, including:

Educational Psychologists
Speech and Language Therapists
School Nursing Team
Occupational Therapy Services
Many other external agencies and professionals

This ensures that we meet the needs of our children effectively and provide the most appropriate support for each individual child.

In-Class Support

We aim to provide support staff within each class so that interventions can be established and children can work in small groups or individually to support their learning and development.
