The year ahead will bring many opportunities to learn and celebrate together, and I would like to thank you for the trust, support and partnership you show our school every day.
I am looking forward to watching our children achieve and flourish over the coming months.
We look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday 2nd November at 8:40a.m ready for another exciting year ahead.
With warmest wishes for a happy and restful week,

Welcome to our new Giraffes and Zebras!
It has been a joy to welcome our new Reception children to our school family this term. From their very first day, they have been Brave and Enthusiastic as they have settled into their new classrooms, made new friends and begun exploring their exciting learning environment.
We are incredibly proud of how quickly they have embraced school life and demonstrated our school values of BEST.
We would also like to thank you for their support during this important transition. We look forward to watching them grow in confidence, develop new skills and create many happy memories throughout the year and time at SBPS.

Rainforest fun!
As part of their Rainforest theme, the children had the chance to meet Dave and his amazing creatures, including an African snail and a grasshopper, and they were even brave enough to stroke a blue-tongued lizard and a snake!
For our bravest children, there was also the opportunity to get up close to a tarantula!
It was a fantastic, hands-on experience and a brilliant way for Years 1 & 2 to learn more about the animals and creatures linked to their Rainforest topic this term.
Well done everyone for being so brave!

Cadbury World
Year 3 & 4 had a wonderful day at Cadbury World. The children showed BEST all day, with brilliant behaviour and engagement with some lovely compliments from the Cadbury staff.
They followed the Aztec trail, learnt all about John Cadbury and how the factory works and how many Wispa bars they make a day (over a million!!)
They enjoyed making and eating our own delicious chocolate creations and LOVED the 4D cinema and laser ride!

Learning in Year 6
Year 6 having a fabulous time investigating the internal organs and trying to map out where the organs are inside our bodies. They thoroughly enjoyed drawing around their friends the most.
Inspired by the work of street artists including Daze and Lady Pink, Year 6 have also been creating their very own graffiti tags — experimenting with lettering, style and identity to create something completely unique to them.
They’ve left their mark and put their own stamp on the classroom… and WOW, what a result! So much creativity and individuality on one wall.

Congratulations!
Congratulations to our new Magnificent Mind Champions. They completed their day of training with Claire from Pacesetter Sports & Wellbeing. It was lovely to see the children engaging in really lovely conversations about friendships, wellbeing and social skills. We can't wait to see you sharing these skills on our playground over the next year.

Standens Barn in Bloom
Mrs Shipley & Mrs Bates were invited along to the Northampton in Bloom ‘It’s your neighbourhood’ awards evening at the beautiful Guildhall.
They were very proud to represent our school and show off all the wonderful things our children at school do at our Gardening Club.
For the 2nd year running, we came away with a fabulous Silver award!
A massive thank you to all the children that come along to the courtyard, the children who pop by and help sweep up, plant bulbs, do arts and crafts and those who simply want a little chat or need a quiet space.
Moving forward, we are hoping to develop the area near our Eco station. We have already planted 200 daffodil bulbs in the planters and are planning on having a small allotment.
If any of our parents would like to help support this, we would welcome any kind donations; plants, bulbs, gloves … anything is welcome.

Thank you for being BEST
A massive thank you to everyone that donated so generously to The McCarthy-Dixon Foundation. Mick came along to collect the many items, and he said it was the biggest donation from any school he has been to!!!
We are so proud of our children, parents and our local community. You are the BEST!

We would like to say goodbye and good luck to Danny from 'Danny's shop'. After 27 years, he has made the decision to retire from our local shop and all of us at SBPS will absolutely miss his support and overwhelming kindness.
Danny has always supported our school in preparing for school events and provided us with bottles of water, ice pops and many other items over the years!
On Tuesday 13th October, he joined us in school to say goodbye and share a special chocolate treat for every child. Alongside this, he donated £1500, which we will use to buy some special items for our school playground.
Danny, thank you for being BEST- you will always remain a special part of Standens Barn Primary School.

Thank you to our FOSB for organising our Halloween disco- what a night! We had a wonderful time and the children were BEST and a real joy to spend time with. Thank you to you all for making them look wonderful! A special thank you to our staff, the FOSB and our wonderful House Captains, who helped to set up and clean up and for dancing the night away!
We will be using the funds raised to help us reduce costs for the cinema trips and plan fun Christmas events in December for our children.
You may also have noticed a new outdoor table tennis table on our playground which can be used by our children during lunchtimes and playtimes. Thank you to our FOSB but also to you- without your kind donations during the year we would be unable to provide our children with new toys and equipment.

We would be so grateful if you could offer your time, ideas and support to the Friends of Standens Barn – this may include helping at discos, collecting tuck shop sweets or just giving suggestions about how to raise money.

During our assemblies this term, the children have been focusing on BEST and how we can follow this in all areas of our lives, no matter where we are or who we are with.
Each week we have focused on each part of BEST- Brave, Enthusiastic, Thoughtful, Safe- and reminded ourselves of what these words mean and how they might look in action both around our school and in our community.
We have also reminded the children about what our Protected Characteristics are and how we must be tolerant and respectful and remember that we all have differences, but we are all welcome and capable of achieving wonderful things!

This term, the children have been sharing and discussing the following books with their teachers:
Reception: Hello Hello
Year 1: How to be a lion
Year 2: How to be a lion
Year 3: The Red Crayon Story
Year 4: The Red Crayon Story
Year 5: The Girls
Year 6: You need to chill

Every child in school every day!
We are so incredibly proud of our high attendance figures each week. Well done to our classes for earning their class attendance rewards and congratulations to the teachers, who love winning the crown and becoming the Attendance King or Queen!
Thank you to you all for your continued support and commitment to ensuring your child comes to school. Our aim remains 100% attendance – every child, in school, every day!

Every day counts!
The school doors open at 8:45am so please ensure your child(ren) arrives at school by 8:40am to ensure your child(ren) have a settled start to the school day and do not miss out on any meet-and-greet moments with staff, settling in time with their friends, but crucial literacy skills, which not only help them now but have a significant impact on their future attainment and outcomes. The gates will be closed by 9:00am.
We absolutely want our children to thrive and be the BEST that they can be, but we can only do this with your support.
We understand that juggling home life, work life and school life is tricky, but arriving to school on time is also ensuring our children are building valuable life skills for when they become adults (many of us would not arrive late to work!).
Simple ways to improve lateness is ensuring bags, packed lunches and uniforms are ready the night before. Getting to school on time may mean ensuring a good bedtime/sleep routine and setting the morning alarms a little bit earlier!
We are always here to support you so please reach out if you would like any further advice or practical help.
A reminder that holidays should not be taken during term time. Time in school really does make a difference to children’s learning, friendships and routines.
Thank you for your cooperation and ensuring your child's future is a bright one!

To keep all our children safe, the play equipment/trim trail on our school playground must not to be used before and after school. The equipment is only supervised during playtimes, lunchtimes and specific PE lessons.
-
Please remember the car park is shut between 8:30am and 9:10am and from 3:00pm until 3:30pm unless you hold a disability badge/permit for vehicles (this must be displayed clearly). Our caretaker will open the school gates when it is time to do so.
-
Please remember that if your child would like to bring their bike or scooter into school, they must wear a helmet.
-
We are committed to BEST and treating you with respect and courtesy and to be Thoughtful to you all. Our staff also have the right to work in a safe environment, so we ask that you treat them thoughtfully and with respect and courtesy. Offensive behaviour will result in you being asked to leave and may result in prosecution.
|
|
Please be Safe and Thoughtful when collecting or dropping your child(ren) off.
We understand that it can be very stressful in the mornings when we have to be in multiple places but it is vital that ALL car drivers remain courteous to all of those in our community and that they also drive and park within the law to ensure we do not hurt or harm anyone.
The Highway Code Rule 243 states that it is illegal to stop or park near the following:
- near a school entrance (including zig zag lines)
- anywhere you would prevent access for Emergency Services
- at or near a bus or tram stop or taxi rank
- on the approach to a level crossing/tramway crossing
- opposite or within 10 metres (32 feet) of a junction, except in an authorised parking space
- near the brow of a hill or hump bridge
- opposite a traffic island or (if this would cause an obstruction) another parked vehicle
- where you would force other traffic to enter a tram lane
- where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles
- in front of an entrance to a property
- on a bend
- where you would obstruct cyclists’ use of cycle facilities
